How ShowUp Works

ShowUp.wtf is a commitment platform that helps ensure people actually show up to their plans. Here's how it works:

  1. Create a commitment link with event details and deposit amount
  2. Share the link with the person you're meeting
  3. They place a hold on their payment method (not charged immediately)
  4. Confirm attendance when you show up to release the hold

Getting Started

For Event Creators:

  • Go to the homepage and click "Create a ShowUp Link"
  • Fill in your name, email, event details, and deposit amount
  • Share the generated link with your meeting partner
  • You'll receive an email when they commit to the deposit

For Participants:

  • Click the ShowUp link sent to you
  • Review the event details and deposit amount
  • Enter your payment information to place a hold
  • Show up to the event and confirm your attendance

Common Questions

Q: Is my money charged immediately?

No! We only place a temporary authorization hold on your payment method. This hold expires after 7 days and is only captured if you don't show up and confirm your attendance.

Q: How do I confirm my attendance?

When you arrive at the event, visit the confirmation page or scan the QR code provided. You must confirm within 6 hours of the scheduled event time.

Q: What if I can't make it?

Communicate with the event creator as soon as possible. If you cancel in advance, they can release the hold without charging you.

Q: Is ShowUp free to use?

Yes! Creating and using ShowUp links is completely free. You only pay the deposit amount if you don't show up to your commitment.
